notes from this series:

cycles disrupted

deliberately and by forces of nature.

when a pattern meets a roadblock

and must break itself order to carry on in motion.

a pattern held by fiction, optics,

false pleasantries, fairytales

for so long

that the discord in this breaking is palpable,

disharmonious, irregular, jarring.

a visceral discomfort,

of relation to, but a layer removed

from physical pain.

like sandpaper on the wrong surface,

or cutting your hand deeply on a new knife

you can’t feel it, but you watch it.

hearing a blatant untruth from a vacant face,

watching a loved one dig their grave

your own hands tied

from trying to wrestle away the shovel

where the curation glitches

two unseen worlds collide

where visual harmony begins to fray

because the foundation was rushed for profit

and never built to code.

the builder just hoped the structure would outlive him.

in this transitional space is raw potential.

I imagine it like ‘chaos’ in Paradise Lost

elements clash and swirl without order,

an undefined force of nature,

potent with the blurred duality

of both creation and destruction.

this state begs the questions:

to rest into dissolve

and be swept away with the moving elements

to tighten the grip and be pulverized

or to quietly take inventory,

leave behind your previous lives,

and open your senses for the next exit.

choice isn’t always an illusion
